Hong Kong industrialist and philanthropist, Tin Ka-ping, has died today at the age of 99, his foundation said.
田家炳基金会发布讣告,香港实业家和慈善家田家炳今日辞世,享年99岁。
Born in 1919 in Dabu County, Guangdong, Tin headed to Vietnam and established a porcelain clay business in 1935.
田家炳于1919年出生在广东省大埔县。他于1935年前往越南,成立了一家瓷土公司。
Escaping from Japanese occupation, he started his business in rubber industry in Indonesia in 1939 and later became a prominent industrialist.
为逃日占,田家炳于1939年开始在印尼经营橡胶行业,随后成为一名著名的实业家。
In 1958, he moved to Hong Kong with his family for his children have education in a traditional Chinese environment, according to the foundation.
据该基金会介绍,为了让子女在传统中国环境下接受教育,他于1958年举家迁至香港。
The Tin Ka Ping Foundation, founded in 1982, strives to support the education sector and other charitable endeavors in the Greater China Region.

Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor expressed her “deep sorrow” at Tin’s death, and hailed his contribution to the promotion of education, culture, medical and social welfare in Hong Kong and the mainland.

“On behalf of the Hong Kong special administrative region, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to his family,” Lam said.
