Dutch navigation technology company TomTom has released the results of its latest Traffic Index which provides statistics and information about congestion levels in 403 cities across 56 countries and regions.

Over the past decade, traffic congestion has continued to increase globally with nearly 75% of the cities in the index reporting increased or stable congestion levels between 2017 and 2018.

One positive aspect of congestion is that it's an indicator of a strong global economy. However, it comes with a massive environmental impact and costs commuters huge amounts of time.
