双语：伦敦端午节将于2017年六月盛大举办

　　The London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival (LHKDBF) returns to the London Regatta Centre on June 25, promising a day of exhilarating boat-racing, great music, delicious food and a great chance to experience Chinese culture.

　　伦敦香港端午节(LHKDBF)将于6月25日回归伦敦帆船赛中心，致力于提供令人振奋的赛艇，美妙的音乐，美味的食物以及体验中国文化的绝佳机会。

　　The event has been running every year for over a decade now and was originally organized solely by the London Chinatown Lions Club. These days the London festival is organized by the London Chinatown Chinese Association and the Hong Kong Executives Club with support from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office. Up to 10,000 people attend each year.

　　这个一年一度的盛事已经持续举办了10年，最初是由伦敦唐人街分会组织。近来，伦艺术节由伦敦唐人街中国协会以及香港执行俱乐部在香港经济贸易处的支持下举办。每年都会有多达一万人参加。

　　There is great history behind the Dragon Boat Festival, originating in ancient southern central China some 2,500 years ago.

　　With farming communities reliant on getting enough rainfall for the harvest, they would worship the dragon that symbolizes clouds, rain and water in the Chinese Zodiac. Each year before the wet season starts, dragon boat races would be organized in worship to the dragon.

　　由于中国古代农业收成看天吃饭，人们崇敬着十二生肖中能成云致雨的龙。每年在雨季开始前，人们就会举办龙舟赛，向龙王表达敬意。

　　Every year it falls on the 5th day of the 5th month in the Chinese lunar calendar and the LHKDBF website describes it as ‘the second largest cultural event in the Chinese calendar, second only to Chinese New Year’.

　　端午节是中国农历的五月初五，伦敦香港端午节网站将它描述为“仅次于春节的中国第二大文化活动”。

　　On the day 40 teams will take to the water in specially made dragon boats to compete to win four cups on offer. Each team has one boat with 17 on board, 16 of which use paddles to propel the boat forward with the final member beating a drum.
