There are three policies, starting from 99 yuan, or a little over 14 USD. The other options cost 297 and 495 yuan respectively. Those policies pay 1,999 yuan, 5,997 yuan, and 9,995 yuan respectively. There is another policy option, costing 399 yuan, which offers a 0.5 karat heart-shaped diamond if the couple marries between three and thirteen years after buying the insurance.

　　China Life, the country’s largest commercial insurance company, has a policy that provides 10-thousand roses on a couple’s wedding day if they marry three years after the policy is purchased.

　　Why do these policies only take effect after three years? Because insurance actuaries say 98.39 percent of couples do not make it that long without getting married. In other words, most couples will have either broken off the relationship or will have gotten married before the policy takes effect.
